Hardik Pandya Speaks on India’s Decision to Skip Playing in Pakistan
India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya has opened up about the team’s decision to not play matches in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy. Speaking to the media, he clarified that this was not in his control but appreciated the fans in Dubai who supported India throughout the tournament.
Pandya also reflected on India’s 2017 Champions Trophy final loss to Pakistan, which had been a tough memory for the team and fans alike. “Now that we have won, I can say that defeat is settled. But eight years is a long time, and a lot has changed. The most important thing is India’s victory and making our fans happy,” he said.
Discussing the strong bond within Team India, Pandya highlighted how the squad values teamwork over individual performances. “We play as one unit, supporting each other. It’s not about personal milestones—it’s about winning as a team. We trust that anyone can step up and take the team home when needed,” he added.
Pandya also spoke about his mindset, stating, “I have always played cricket with the aim to win. This isn’t just a phrase—I genuinely put the team first. My performance doesn’t matter as long as the team gets the victory. This mindset has helped me overcome challenges rather than avoid them.”
He shared his growing confidence as a bowler, saying, “Bowling has become an important part of my game. When I perform well with the ball, it automatically eases the pressure on my batting.”
Fans love Pandya’s explosive hitting, and he shared how he has worked on his power-hitting over the years. “I’ve enjoyed hitting sixes since I was 14. Earlier, I didn’t have the strength, but after years of training, I now have the power to clear the boundary with ease.”
India’s decision to play its Champions Trophy matches at a neutral venue has been a major discussion point, but the team’s victory has only strengthened its reputation on the world stage.
