Double Century in T20: Is It Possible?

T20 cricket is known for its fast-paced and action-packed matches, where batters get only 20 overs to showcase their skills. In such a short format, scoring a double century in T20 seems almost impossible. However, some players have achieved this milestone in domestic and unofficial T20 matches.

Players Who Scored a Double Century in T20
1. Rahkeem Cornwall (West Indies)

West Indies cricketer Rahkeem Cornwall created history in 2022 by scoring 205 runs off just 77 balls* in the Atlanta Open T20 League. His innings included 17 fours and 22 sixes, making it one of the highest individual scores in T20 cricket.

2. Subodh Bhati (India)

Indian cricketer Subodh Bhati smashed 205 runs off 79 balls* in a local T20 match in Delhi in 2021. His incredible knock featured 17 sixes, leading his team to a total of 256/1 in 20 overs.

Has Anyone Scored a Double Century in International T20?

As of now, no player has scored a double century in an international T20 match (T20I). The highest individual score in T20Is is Aaron Finch’s 172 runs for Australia against Zimbabwe in 2018.

However, players are becoming more aggressive in T20 cricket, and with the increasing strike rates, the possibility of a double century in T20 Internationals cannot be ruled out.

Can We See a Double Century in International T20?

With leagues like IPL, BBL, and PSL, players are scoring runs at a faster pace. If a batter stays at the crease for the full 20 overs and plays aggressively, scoring a double century in international T20 cricket could happen in the near future.

While scoring 200 runs in T20 cricket is rare, Rahkeem Cornwall and Subodh Bhati have proved that it is achievable. The day is not far when a player might score a double century in an official T20 International match.
